Cheryl and I first met with Joe Firetti approximately 4 years after purchasing our lot on Ridgecrest Drive in 2002.  We knew we were not ready to build then, but wanted to see what his company had to offer and to get a feel for how we might work together.  As this was to be our retirement dream house, we knew we had to choose a builder who had a compatible personality and shared our vision.

Even though Joe knew this was just a "pre-marital" meeting, he arranged to spend a full morning with us discussing how he and his contractors worked, and what we could expect at various stages of the construction.  After this initial meeting with Joe, we were very impressed and went back to Atlanta brimming with ideas and excitement.

Fast forward to September 2010 ~ after a week's worth of meetings with some other area builders, and determining we had the best chemistry with Joe and that he had the best product to meet our needs and desires, we scheduled another meeting with him to discuss the house design, as well as the cost estimate, and what we should expect from this experience.  Joe provided us with a detailed building schedule and notebook which outlined all the various "milestones" of our construction.  That notebook accompanied us everywhere and we referred to it almost daily, as it also included the subcontractors that Joe uses for all aspects of the building process. We added to that notebook with photos and notes/documents as we met with our various vendors/contractors. It was our one stop shopping book!  All of the various deadlines for aspects of the construction were either met right on time or a little earlier.

Even though we planned to be living in St. James during construction, the first two months of building took place while we were still in Atlanta.  Joe ensured that we were fully up to date on all aspects and provided us with photos via e-mail so that we could see how our "dream" was progressing.

We can't say enough good things about Chris, Joe's assistant, and his sub contractors!  They were professional, superb at their areas of expertise and so helpful.  No question from us to any of them was unimportant, and we were given their full attention.  If a sub had a brainstorm while working on something at the house, we would get a call from Joe to discuss or view the idea at the house and make a final determination on the spot.  Because of these "meetings of the minds" we ended up with several unique features that weren't in our initial design plan. However, nothing was finalized until we had given our approval. And, the best news of all, aside from the extras that we added to the construction along the way, our estimate was almost right on track!
